which of these 2 chips will perform better in video editing

1. AMD Atlon 64 3800+ (2.4)
2. Intel 530 with HT technology at 3.0 ghz

I did read cpu 101 before asking this, and it says that intel is better than Amd at multimedia, but these chips are in a somewhat different ballpark in general performance (meaning that the AMD is more powerful....)

So yeah, I was wondering if the 3800+ has enough to beat a P4 going at 3 Ghz in its own "specialty"

Probably a mid level x2 but just get an intel if you are not gaming or mostly doing multimedia because it will be cheaper for what you want.

The new amd athalon 64 3800 X2 should be a worthy competitor due to the new split cpu.
well yeah, but then maybe we should compare it to a cpu in the same class such as pentium d 820, or the pentium ee 840 (which is probably out of class but you get the idea)
