Was going to get a new MoBo earlier in the week, but things came up and now I'm looking to order one tomorrow. Was between a $90 Abit and a $60 ECS, and everyone said go for the Abit.

I did a bit more research and found an Intel that was almost identical but $5 less.

Intel:

Abit:

Suggestions on which of those is better? Thanks a bunch! Looking to order by 2 PM tomorrow so it's shilled tomorrow night.

What do you need it for? They've got the very old 945 chipset get a new one with a 965 or a P35 chipset, not the old stuff -.-

I don't need it for ultra-hardcore graphics or super fast gaming, just need it for basic stuff while still maintaining speed and future upgradability (sweet--I made a new word!). MoBo I have now isn't too great and is going to be returned. Just need to install the new one first.

Whatever I get, it will be installed with: Pentium D 940, 1 Gig DDR2, e-GeForce 7100GS, and 2 SATA 2's.

The P35 chipset is the best and savest chipset for the future, because it supports all C2D CPUs inculding the new 45nm technology and 1333Mhz FSB.
The 945 supports only a few C2D and I guess not even the E6X20 models.

Well I don't need the absolute best, just something much better than what I have now. I plan on keeping my CPU for quite a while (I have had zero problems so far with the D-series). Honestly, my only requirements are DDR2, SATA2 capable, and a full-speed PCI-E x16 slot. I'm not concerned with SLI or 1333 FSB or any of that.

It's not the best at all and it doesn't have SLI or something.
And if you want to upgrade your PC in the future without changing the motherboard again, take one with the P35 chipset for a few bucks more.
And again it's not a highend mobo at all, it's just a save alternative for the future. Or at least one with the 965 chip....

I appreciate the suggestions, but I'm fine with the 945. I won't be doing a C2D or DDR3 or multiple GPUs anytime soon. If you absolutely had to choose between the above, what would it be? I'm leaning towards the Abit myself, but there is still hope for the Intel. Reading reviews of both online now.

There is no DDR3 on the mobos I would take, and you will never ever ever ever ever put a C2D on your Board? If you don't want it... Take the Abit-board.
