Which one is better for gaming? Intel Core2 Extreme QX6700 or X6800

At this point, I don't think you'll notice a difference. Both, in the right setup, could max out any game that is out today.
 
In current games, theX6800 is a little better.
In future games that will utilize 4 cores like Alan Wake or crysis, the QX6700 will be better for gaming.

Anyway if QX6700 and X6800 priced the same then get QX6700
 
I agree, the quad core processors came out very soon after the dual core from Intel which leads me to believe they wanted to capitalize profit on similar technology, considering they can charge considerably more for quad cpu's than a dual. The technology isn't new in the quad cpu's, its just simply 2 duals, so if you ask me, the next generation quad core or dual cores will have the most impact as far as processing power. Until than, I am happy with my cpu.
