I really would like to know. And will more of i7 Series come out? or if i9(as i heard) comes out, will it be compatible with current i7 platform?

thank you,

Although the intial speed or a 720 is slow, it has 4 cores, with 8 threads, which is huge, and it has that "turbo" thing, that will overclock it to 2.8ghz, which is huge, thats a 1.2ghz speed increase, almost double, I would go i7, no use in getting older tech, although it is good tech. it would be a better choice to go with a new chip, same goes for the 820.

820- 1.73ghz reg speed, 3.06ghz turbo :O

Not really any of them. Games has barly started to use 4 cores, what are you going to do with 8?.. Multitasking yes, gaming no..

I would rather buy a Q9650, clock it to 4.50 Ghz and enjoy that until games takes advantage of 8 threads. Yet, that will probably take 4 years? Considering that more and more games are focusing on the GPU i would rather buy the Q9650 and use the rest of the money you have left for a better (or another) GPU..

If you even referred to the OP's post, you wuold see that he is talking about laptop cpu's and not desktop cpu's.

Yes, games do use four cores, and they have been for a few years.

Hyperthreading does help, so yes those extra virtual cores increase preformance, they just don't go to waste...

Please read.

lol a Q9650 over an i7. Even with hyper threading turned off an i7 is still better than the Q9650 :/ can't even believe it still costs $329.99

Above off topic xD

to OP get the i7

The Core i7 920 is at least 20 percent more powerful than the Core 2 Quad Q9650 Processor. A fair price for the Q9650 Processor would be around $225. $330 is definitely over priced.
