among this two processor which can give better performance and Why(What is the reason??)pls some one tell me.or mail to me ur sugession

1.Intel Dual core 3.40GHz FSB-800 and cache-4MB
2.Intel Core 2 Dua-1.86GHz FSB-1066 and cache-2MB

I'll post my PM to you here, so others can see (keep in mind I was trying to make it as easy to understand as possible):

Basically, the architecture of the Core 2 Duo is much "better". Meaning that it uses shorter pipelines, so it can transfer data across the CPU much faster then with the Pentium D's. See, with the Pentium D's they have long pipelines, and they need a high speed to transfer the data quickly.

Think of it this way, in a Core 2 Duo, picture the pipelines as a 2-mile highway, and the Pentium D as a 4-mile highway. The Core 2 Duo can reach one end to another at a much slower speed (Ghz), vs the Pentium D who has to travel almost twice as fast to be there in the same time (3Ghz vs 2Ghz for instance).
