Which one of these two is better?

I would definitely go with the Nvidia card. The performance of the two cards are very similiar, but I would go with Nvidia because it uses less power and generates less heat.

The extra 256MB of memory will help a lot with the textures and shadows in games... Take a look see if there's a Gainward one on Newegg, It has a 2 slot cooler on it, it's great! :)

Yes the 256 MB of memory will help a lot especially in FEAR im glad you guys pointed out that newegg had those I complety missed it.

There is no Gainword one on Newegg I think that might just be a UK brand. I might just buy a aftermarket 2 slot cooler to put on it. Does anybody know where I can get one?

The 7950GT is a great card, but for an extra $50 an 8800GTS 320MB offers a lot more. If you're planning on getting an after market cooler anyway, the price difference will be negligible.

I wouldn't really say that the 7950GT needs a two slot cooler, though, even if you're planning on overclocking it.

I wouldnt mind getting the 8800GTS 320MB but it doesnt do well in the higher resolutions like 1680x1050 which I would want to run all my dx9 games on. Otherwise I think I could stretch my budget for that card but I dont know yet and I really cant afford the 640MB version.

There aren't any games out at the moment that fully utilises DX10's full potential anyway, so either get a high performing DX9 card now or hold out abit for a good DX10 one.

I think Ill get a high end DX9 card and when the time cards get a good DX10 card by then the prices will be lowered on the DX10 cards and there will be new ones out that should be a lot better.

That is the problem with technology, its moving so fast. A card can be top of the line now but in six months time be downgraded to mid-range and you have spent a fortune on it. That is why I never buy top of the line products.
