Yeah those are good, ECS is NOT crappy, for "general stable use" thats what they are made for. Whats your buget? For what your doing Chaintec and Foxconn are good, MSI ASUS and Gigabyte only excell when tweaking and other stuff. So yeah give us a buget and we can recomend something.

By the way I see you claim to have overclocked a 1st gen P4 to 3.8 Ghz.. lol are you sereous because thats pretty much imposible.

my budget is somewhere around $250 and lol i didn't overclock the 1st gen p4 to 3.8ghz. it's just that i use a 3.8 cooler on my 1.8ghz just to run "faster" and to longer its life:)

Least amount of $$ for a complete 775 sys? Let's see: (newegg rox)

Board: PCChips M957G: Link
CPU: Celeron D 326: Link\
Graphics: integrated
RAM: pqi Power Series 128MB PC2700: Link

Complete LGA775 system for $131.72. Granted it's crap, but it is possible. (edit: I see 34erd beat me to it.)

Ok I guess I was under the assumption you wanted a P4, at least 512 mb RAM, a non-integrated graphic card, and a mobo company that I've actualy heard of... If I'm wrong corect me...

ah. I solve probs like these with no assumptions. and how come you have not heard of PCChips? They've been around since forever.

Hmmm the best in my books is prolly ASUS very closely followed by Abit although yes they do tend to be on the pricier side (although if you look hard enough some of the boards might surprise you). Gigabyte and MSI products tend to be a bit over the middle of the road with their prices hovering around the middle range while Chaintech and Foxconn are in the lower price bracket but still have competent products.

Hmmm sort of. Even discounting features and performance (because thats not what the boards are made for), ECS/Asrock/etc boards, while they work, are quite stable but they will die on you (hehe at home we have like 7 ECS machiens which lasted 4-5 years and now they all starting to fall apart in rapid succession)

Thats plenty money for a motherboard. You can damn near get any board u want

forgot to point out need a cpu, videocard n ram too.......any more suggestions?
Thats more expected for a budget config
- Intel Pentium4 511 [133x21, $130]
- Wintec AMPO 512MB PC2-4200 [CL4, $30]
- ASUS P5RD1-V [RX200, $90]
Subtotal = $250

CPU: LGA775 Pentium 4 640.
Video: 2x nVidia 7800GT's.
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tracer 4x 1GB.
And that's supposed to fit into a $250 budget? Nice try but it not gonna happen

and a mobo company that I've actualy heard of...
That can lead to some awkward/pointed questions ... like

and how come you have not heard of PCChips? They've been around since forever.
Good question.
