hello!
I'm looking for a laptop but i dont know which company to buy from?

do you guys know the pro's and con's of companies that make laptops?
like dell, gateway, etc.

I'm looking for a laptop for personnel use..not business..but i do have alot of programs up at a time as well...because i program and code..

any help?

Dell, Hp, alienware, asus, ect. are all good companies. To list the pros and cons will take forever, as all are different.

1. How much are you willing to spend?
2. How long do you plan to use the notebook?
3. What do you mainly want to do? (like play games, watch movies ect.)
4. Can you order it online?

Yup. Ignore comments like that.

You can get a great deal on Dell laptops right now. If you customize any inspiron laptop to $1,000 you will get 25% off instantly. I just ordered a $1,000 laptop online and payed $786 for it. There is also a similar deal for the XPS laptops

At school for the light + sound team we have a dell laptop and now the sound card doesn't work because the motherboard cracked and it has happened on many laptops!!!!!

That's what we would like to call a hasty generalization. Your experiences do not speak for all dell laptops

No DELL is the WORST!!! They are the worst pc's you can buy now days!! All of you are denying that they suck b/c you have one, right?

well, here's the dell repairs ive done PERSONALLY:
my sister's Dell Dimension 3000, power supply died after 6 months
neighbor's Inspiron 1405 (or something like that) HDD died after 35 days
friend's Dimension E series (cant remember which) motherboard was faulty to begin with, he sent it back in to have it replaced, only to have it returned with another dead motherboard, and they didnt put his video card back in it
Grandparent's Dimension 8400, CPU died after 3 months (a few years back, my uncle replaced it), PSU died after 5 months, Video card 8 months
Mom's Dimension E series (about a year ago) came WITHOUT A HARD DRIVE from Walmart, and when we got the replacement, which had a totally unopened box, the PSU was dead. (I got her an HP instead, nothing wrong with it at all).
FINALLY: Dad's work laptop, Inspiron D610, CAUGHT FIRE because of a faulty power supply/source thingy.

buy an HP if you want to save yourself a bunch of frustration.

my best mate rolled his jeep 3x, the laptop works perfectly fine, even though it was flipping around loose during the crash.
