Hi all im looking to buy a pc on ebay for my son for xmas. i have a budget of £800 uk pounds. i dont have a clue which is a good one all bad one. can any one have a look for me and tell me which one the best is. it must be from the uk ebay.

thanks for the help

It really depends what he is going to use it for. First off, I would only buy a new computer, I wouldnt risk buying a used one. Secondly, i'm sure you know but make sure the seller you're buying from is reputable, i.e. lots of positive feedback.

As for the computer, as I said before it really depends what he will be using it for. I would say go to a local best buy or circuit city, look at the computers there, talk to the salesmen, and then go on eBay and look for a similar computer.

That looks like an excellent computer, however I dont know if it's overpriced or not since im from the US and the prices for parts are different.

It is up to you, but I would NEVER buy a system from ebay. You just never know how good the person is that is selling it. And if you ever have problems in the future, I am betting that you will be stuck with it.

You would be much better off buying from a local shop or from (I hate saying this) Dell or HP.

well, most, including paratwa, would advise against buying from ebay, but having bought from that seller you linked to personally, i can assure you he sends quality items, no ripoffs

(i live in the u.s. but bought from him for a friend in the uk...)

I think the best way is either you build it yourself or go to the local store and ask them how much will it cost if they help you to put all hardware together. (I assume you get all Hardware yourself) I knew my local store charge £20 for checking, building new one, may be £50-100??
Anyway just give you some idea what you can get...(price based on ebuyer.com)
CPU: intel E6750 £115
MB: Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R £75 (if it is not availiable, get any P35 chipset with gigabyte, MSI)

Optical Drive: SATA DVD burner £20
HDD: Seagate/ WD SATA 320GB 16MB Cache, £50
