which PCIe x2????

hi. i have a ASUS P6T DELUXE motherboard and a 4870 graphics card,,, the motherboard supports 3 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x16/x16/x1 or x16/x8/x8 mode). placing the graphics card on the first PCIe blocks one pci port and leaves one free where if i place my soundcard there "can't stop the heat :eek:" because if so the soundcard is attached to the graphic's card fan.

So my question is... is there any problem if I place the graphics card to the second PCIe??????????????? well if you can help me I will be gratefull...:)
 
The main slot is the blue one, but who knows. Slap it in the second slot and see if it boots/recongnizes it and runs in X16. If it doesnt, it wont hurt anything and you will just have to swap it back.

thanx... well if it boots will i lose speed??? and how can i check if it runs in x16?????
 
Well if it boots and runs at X16, no you wont lose any performance. Just use something like CPU-Z or PC Wizard and it will show what speed the slot is running at.
