which photoshop should i get...

Photoshop 7.0? or Photoshop CS2?

This is what i will be using it for

-Mostly web deisgn, I heard its pretty good that and imageready which comes with it? good image mapping?

-Images for webpages.

-Random baners/avatars and stuff like that.


What are the [major, and minor] differences? which do you prefer?/Suggest?

CS is the newest series correct? I would assume it would be better N stuff, but it might be made different or something, I can also find it cheaper, so even if its worse...as long as its not ALOT worse....I'd rather get that.

well, are u on a tight budget or anything? if not.. just get CS2, its great.. but if not, you can settle for CS or 7.0.. if thats all ur going to be using it for.. 7.0 is quit capable for that kind of stuff.. i used to have 7 all the way up until now and finally got CS2, i honestly dont see any difference, because i only use certain renders and tools, so i dont go in depth into photoshop.. if you are in serious imaging, then u might want CS2, cuz its new, im sure it comes with other goodies.. but if just avatars, webpage designs, templates, stuff like that.. 7.0 is well capable for that..
 
For what your doing, you can use Photoshop Elements 2.0, its based off of CS2 but with less features, and you can often find it for under $100.
 
i base my life on photoshop 7 ;) , i have my own web and graphic design company and i use 7 for everything....its got all the needed tools

Less then 30$'s, and after i think about it, I highly dout its a legit versoin. even someone in his feedback wrote something along these lines...Not sure if its legit...but it works...

then photoshop 7 off ebay i could get it just a little over 100$.


So photoshop 7.0 is about the same as CS2?, everyone is saying 7 is great and can do that kind of stuff...I asume that CS2 can also do all that stuff easy? and then i could get element's which would praballly suit me well for what im doing?

Not the same, its upgraded, and perhaps more refined in certain things. That said, its unlikely you would use any of the benefits from getting the newer versions. Its up to you, but I say PS 7 is great for what you're doing.
 
ive recently upgraded from 7 to cs2 and the difference is huge. it doesnt see so from first glance but theres features like color matching and automatic shadows and highlights that i cant do without. Photoshop 7 is fine but cs2 is FINE!!!!!!!!!! :)
