Which Proccessor is better for gaming

The 965. The Llano is for people who don't want to spend extra on a video card and use the graphics that come with the CPU. For gaming, you definitely want a separate graphics card. The 965 has a higher Mhz and a 6mb L3 cache instead of the 4mb L2 cache. Go with the 965.

Llano is capable of gaming just fine, even Crysis 2. I'd get one as a family system sort of thing. I'd also get one so that if my graphics card ever died, or if I was otherwise without a dedicated card, you still have decent enough performance for gaming.

Unless you want to use the integrated graphics, there is no reason to buy Llano

i3 2120 or PII 965 are faster

i3-2100 will kick both buts with a gpu, but llano, although the slowest, has a feature utilized by some radeon gpu's that will boost the performance in a form of cross fire but the i3-2100 will serve you much better if you are not upgrading your processor and keeping an old board, but the llano uses a different socket so if you didn't know that or something...

alright i see i see. im not that smart with all this stuff but if i added a video card to the lano would i get better performance than with the phenom witha gpu. also. Aastii how would i be able to change how would i be able to change it

you might but you'd be in trouble in a year or 2 when you want to upgrade to a better cpu or gpu, especially since by then you caould go sli or xfire for cheaper than a new gpu equal in power, but that cpu wouldn't do too well running both drivers along with splitting the info and all that good stuff, then playing a game too, at the settings 2 cards should get you'd be in trouble with cpu lagging behind, and the multiplier is easily changed in bios or in windows with simple programs.

Get the 955/965. Both are unlocked and have a higher default clock. Plus get a AM3+ Socket board with a 900 series chipset. Can upgrade to Zambezi later on.

If you get the A8 3850 your stuck with Socket FM1. The only reason I would get a APU is if your just going to use the onboard video. The cores are the Athlon II Cores at 32nm. with 1mb. of L2. Now that might change later when Trinity come out with the Zambezi cores. But I doubt they will use Socket FM1.

It would depend on what you used the system for. If you plan on your system being there just for "home" use, by which I mean using the internet, watching videos, listening to music, using office applications etc, there will be no performance increase. If that is all you will use it for, you are better off with neither CPU, and instead going for either an Athlon II x2, or an Intel i3.

If, however, you plan on gaming, you will not just find a graphics card will give you better performance, you will find it is essential. The Phenom II would also perform a lot better in games than the A8 would.

As to how you would raise the multiplier, it differs between different motherboards. The basics though is go into the BIOS at bootup (usually press Del, or an F key at boot up to access it) and there will be overclocking settings where you can manually set the multiplier. You would ismply set it to 17, rather than the stock 16 of a 955, and you would have a 3.4GHz CPU, identical to a 965

Go with the Phenom II since you'd likely get a graphics card for gaming you won't take advantage of the on-die gpu the Llano has.

To answer the question of adding a GPU to the llano would increase performance, no. You would have to choose between the GPU or the onboard video. Go with the 965 or 955.

With certain cards, yes, but crossfiring a lower powered card with a higher one wont give you an improvement, likely would lower performance.

I thought that Llano had hybrid CF. Wouldnt that add some performance to it?

It is more energy saving rather than performance enhancing. There would be a slight increase, but nothing that noticable, and certainly nothing that would make gaming better than on a 955

i looked at some benches a week or 2 ago showing on either lower or higher res it will actually lower your fps in some cases.
