Which processor for battery life?

I'm looking to get a new laptop, and battery life is most important. (It will only be doing internet browsing and coding, no gaming).

I'm looking at the Dell Inspiron, which is £330 with a Celeron, or £400 with a C2D. Will a C2D T5550 (1.73GHz) use much more power than a Celeron 550 (2GHz) at, say, internet browsing?

I'm not sure if new powersaving techs (eg, speedstep) make up for the increase I assume there will be.

Won't matter really... it all depends if you have high contrast on the screen or if you have the wireless and bluetooth working.... you can get batteries up 5 hours.

The dual core processor would make a much better laptop. The battery life shouldn't drain much more with it, and the performance is great.
