Which Processor is Better/Fastest

I am looking into getting a laptop for gaming (newer games like Half Life 2), downloading pictures, internet and general computer work.
Which processor is better/faster?
AMD Athlon
AMD Turion
Pentium 4
Pentium M
Any suggestions where to buy one?

I would recommend a pentium M processor as well. I am using it in my laptop. But if you want to use the laptop for gaming, then an AMD CPU would be a better option.

A Pentium M actually outperforms the AMD's at gaming in laptops, its by far the best option to choose.

yep pentium m beats most athlon 64 due to its small pipeline ideal for a desktop that why you can now get pentium m for desktops

I prefer AMD over Intel but that is mostly just a personal preference. To be honest you could set here all day and talk about the technical aspects from both but the truth is that they both make quality Processors...just depends on what you prefer.

just don't get a P4, I know a lot of people who have heat issues with them both in and out of laptops, of course being in a laptop is worse than a desktop in that regard as well

yea, id go with the turion 64 because it performs as good as athlon 64 and its 64-bit... just for pure upgradeability.... windows vista will be out in 2006 remember!
i understand pentium m will perform better but ultimately none of the above processors will bottleneck the best of laptop video cards... unless youre getting an alienware in which case you can put whatever friggen processor in it you want because youre not limited in money. (alienware = expensive)
