Which processor to have?

Hi.

Which would be the best processor to have on my new gaming pc that i am purchasing?

a CORE2QUAD Q6600 10,640 MHz

or a AMD ATHLON 64 X2 3.0GHZ DUAL CORE 6000+

The Q6600, btw the speed doesn't add up each core will run at 2.4ghz

This is what i got to choose... this 1 has 1gig of video ram but is not DX10 capable.

Then this 1 has a newer graphics card which is dx10 capable(what i want)

or this 1? the ram is a abit faster.. 800mhz instead of 667 like the other 2

The Q6600 runs at 2.4Ghz, not 10.64Ghz.

But the Q6600 would be the best bet.

you can put a server chip on a server motherboard and use that for gaming. i have a friend who does it.

Yes it's possible, but depending on the hardware he's using he can run into a lot of problems. If it's a single CPU then thats fine, but once you get into the 2+ processors then it's pretty much impossible to use it for a gaming machine because you no longer can use Windows XP/Vista.

XP Pro, and Vista (not Home), can support up to two physical processors. But if you have more then 2 processors, you wouldnt be able to use those, so you would end up going with Windows Server 2003 (if not Linux), but good luck finding games to run on that
