Skip both and wait for AMD to release their quad cores
The Q6600 runs at 2.4Ghz, not 10.64Ghz.Hi.
Which would be the best processor to have on my new gaming pc that i am purchasing?
a CORE2QUAD Q6600 10,640 MHz
or a AMD ATHLON 64 X2 3.0GHZ DUAL CORE 6000+
Thanks

Yes it's possible, but depending on the hardware he's using he can run into a lot of problems. If it's a single CPU then thats fine, but once you get into the 2+ processors then it's pretty much impossible to use it for a gaming machine because you no longer can use Windows XP/Vista.you can put a server chip on a server motherboard and use that for gaming. i have a friend who does it.
XP Pro, and Vista (not Home), can support up to two physical processors. But if you have more then 2 processors, you wouldnt be able to use those, so you would end up going with Windows Server 2003 (if not Linux), but good luck finding games to run on that2000 and XP pro both will utilize 2 processors, havent really checked up on Vista though?
