Which processor would be better?

I have a choice between:

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E8400 (2x 3.0GHz/6MB L2 Cache/1333FSB)
Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600 (4x 2.4GHz/8MB L2 Cache/1066FSB)

The quad is only $15 more, but slower processors, albeit more of them.
What's the best thing to do?
 
Q6600 will be more future proof when apps support 4 cores so that tackles the 8400 For now. For some games they might make more use of the 8400 but in the future the Q6600 will be standard and games will take advantage of 4 cores.
 
get the duel if you are plaining to upgrade in the next 2-3 years

what they are saying are if your planing on upgrading your system anytime soon after this go with the duel because it wont be as good as the quad in 3 years but its better then the quad right now just because a quad doesnt have very many programs that use all four cores

me personaly i would go with the quad it might be slower, but in the future it will be way faster then the duel,
