Which processor?

[KCN]

This is more of a server thing than a desktop thing, but its this or laptops, so here it is.

I'm looking at buying a new dedicated server to host game servers, but I wanted to get a professional, unbiased opinion, so again, here I am.

Dual Core Xeon E3110 (2 × 3.00GHz) or Core 2 Duo E8400 (2 x 3.00Ghz)

Money is not an object, only performance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe that the Xeon would be better for you. AFAIK xeon processors are just higher binned chips, so they can take more heat. which is better for a server i guess.

I guess that would be better, thanks for the info. Anyone ever used one of the Xeon chips? I have an E8400 at home overclocked to 4.5Ghz.
