If you like modular, its ok. The XFX is just a better quality power supply.

Well, does it make that much difference? I haven't really built a PC before, not from scratch.

Difference as in what? Do you know what modular means? If you have a cramped case or one that doesnt have good cable management, then yes. If you have a case with good cable management, it doesnt make much difference.
