IMHO, yes it is as good. The default speed may be slower but it can still clock as high. People seem to be having very good luck with it in this thread.

id say the muskin due to the fact its cheaper and has better timings
It doesn't technically have better timings, the cas lat is the same, they all affect different things, so just because its 4 better on one, and the other is 1 better on a different timing, doesn't mean its better. They are both ok timings, but pretty fast ram. To be truthful they are actual pretty bad timings, considering you don't see ram past 5-5-5-15 anymore.

......Those are bad timings for DDR2-1000?

Omega, have you ever played with timings? I mean, seriously played with timings? I have. For hours and hours and hours.

When you are talking fractions of a millisecond, those numbers mean absolutely NOTHING. Do you realize the difference they make in benchmarks even? RAS to CAS doesn't do jack. You might gain a couple of points, but when you are talking 5,000 + points, 10 points means squat.

The only timing that makes any difference at all, and even then it isn't huge, is the CAS latency. It's so minimal it is hardly worth bothering with.

So, in benchmarks you might gain a couple of points. But any computer tech worth his salt, that knows anything about computers WHATSOEVER, knows that benchmarks don't mean jack unless you're some little tool that hangs out at mad onion's forums. What matters is actual performance, and you will notice little to no actual improvement, certainly not with RAS to CAS.

Besides, there are a few other factors involved here as well, ie can the CPU -> mem controller -> RAM handle it? Not all combinations can. I've played with those too, with much frustration.

Actually yes I have, and I know that the differences are extremely small, I was just asking why a member said one set of latencies were better then another.

I tweaked my DDR2-800 memory down to 3-4-3-11, or something along those lines.

Pretty impressive timings for that memory actually. :)
