Which route for more storage should I take?

Hi all, as my hard drives begin to burst at the seems i'm left wondering what route of expansion i should take; internal or external. For both I would be looking at at least 3TB of space. For internal storage I am quite sure that I have ran out of sata power cables from my power supply so I will most likely buy a splitter (http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=91&item_id=025447). I have never had an external hard drive so I'm not really sure to what to expect in terms of speed, however I would be going for the same drive internal and external with the need to get some sort of inclosure for the drive if i go with external. I also noticed that having 3TB in an enclosure may be difficult due to problems with some of them?

In terms of the drive I'm looking at:

Seagate Barracuda: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=15_1086_210_212&item_id=042242

WD Red: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=15_1086_210_212&item_id=050755

WD Green: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=15_1086_210_212&item_id=039030

Now the Seagate is the same cost as the WD Green, but I've had a drive go bad on me back in the day..although I'm willing for someone to change my mind and tell me about if the quality of Seagate has improved, or what's currently going on with the quality of WD. The WD Red is the most expensive for sure however it does come with an extra year of warranty and it's "designed to work in the unique 24/7 environment" according to WD so I'm guessing that would mean it would be a little better for me to run in terms of length of its lifespan but I'm unsure if it would work properly as it is labeled as a NAS hard drive. Input is greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

One thing to consider with external is the interface. If you only have usb 2.0 be prepared for some awfully slow transfer rates.

If you have open sata ports I don't see any reason not to go with internal unless you want to transfer files from one computer to another.

Seagate is definetely my favorite since almost every WD I had went bad except for those old PATA ones which were great and still work even today. And not a single Seagate I have went bad.You were just a bad luck I guess.

Also what I would definetely recommend is to have fans on the hard disk drive spinning all the time to make hard disk cool since it can get extremely hot after few hours. And big temperatures make hard disk's life shorter a lot (depending how lucky you are).I for instance have 2 small fans above,2 small fans below, one big blue led fan on the left and one big blue led fan on the right. And thanks to that I must say that hard disk drive was not EVEN WARM at all after even few days of running. But I guess that's just me lol.

For you it will be enough to get just those 2 small fans which you can screw on the hard disk drive.I recommend you this one since it's super cheap and does the job great and the shipping is also free:
