Faulty temp diode, it's the only answer to 25C at full load for 3 hours and oc'd 600mhz
Unless you had exotic cooling (which you dont)

AMD is better than Intel? Most games are more compatible with Intel, PowerPC is used by Mac, can it be used on PC? Is it fast? Fast enough for games?
Thanks

Yes as already said previously. AMDs used to run much hotter but that was awhile ago now. It really depends on what CPUs but it's not as simple as just saying AMD or Intel.

No AMD is niether better nor worse then Intel... It depends on situation. As for games being more compatible on Intel is CRAP... It's all marketing.

ya, any games that run on windows will run on amd or intel (at least games that are out now).

The Odd game advertises Intel as best choice for there game kinda like the way Nvidia does.

It's sad to see this marketing working the way it does.

It is easy to understand why a video card will limit which games you can play (a decade ago the sound card was the same way.. but not anymore). As for the cpu BRAND... I would think the speed of the CPU is what limits what you can do on that machine, not the chip brand....

Jiffyman

Intel will run a bit hotter but all cpu's will have heat problems if cooling is not addressed. Get the best case you can afford and you wo't regret it. I personally use an Aspire XNavigator case housing an Intel 3.0E(prescott) and as I type this the cpu is at 27c,which I attribute to the case/cooling.Good luck

well the speed of the chip and performance are not the same thing. Intel are undoubtedly faster that amd, but they do not necessarily perform better

intel are planing to release a procesor with 65nm process using the same desighns from teh pentium m and pentium 6** series

thats a totally different topic, although it would be interesting to hear about, so make a new thread and post that in there.

[/QUOTE]AMDs used to run alot hotter. Now they have changed that and they run much cooler then before. Mine runs at about 37 to 40 degrees celcius.
Since when did the aMD change to run cooler? -this is just a question from a newbie computer guy

one more question, How do you check the temperature on your cpu or computer?

The 65nm wont give you instant performance gains, but in keeping with this thread topic it will help them run cooler
As a note the P-m and 6xx series are completely difference archetectures so intel cant release a chip implementing these designs. I think you are got confused between conroe and cedar mill chips coming up
cedar mill cores will be out Q1 of 06 and are built on 65nm technology
conroe will be out sometime in the second half of 06 and will be a completly new archetecture, doing away with netburst and bringing in aspects from the P-m core. But it will be a completly new core, and classification i.e. no more P4

i think AMD makes some real hot CPU's.. :P

but.. at the moment, id say amd's run cooler as their intel counterparts.. but thats mainly because of the lower clock frequency :)

I have the same power supply that i've used in my P4 and now my Sempron system, and with the P4 in it, the PSU was blowing out really hot air, it could easily heat my room up about 5*F, now with the sempron, there is hardly any heat coming out of it.

Although that was a good personal heater for my room :P

Intel's.... Prescott's are b*tches to keep cool.
Really? Im looking at a Socket478 Prescott at 32C (aftermarket). Also got a Pentium4 540 upstairs at 34C (stock) ... Socket478 prescotts are too hot for the stock cooler to handle but any halfdecent aftermarket cooler will keep them quite tame.

any current desktop AMD cpu will run cooler then any desktop intel cpu. The sempron, athlon xp, athlon 64, or the AMD X2 will run cooler then a celeron, pentium 4, or Pentium D
Hahah i'd like to see a Palomino stay cooler than a Northwood

Pretty sure most users will see temps above that
I dunno ... my 540 doesnt have anything fancy to it and it runs 44C max burn ... hardly qualifying for "hot"

Which is why i specifically said desktop cpu's, and left the Pentium M out of the list.
I just finished building a desktop with a PentiumM ... :) (also the Turion64 is an option here too)

New topic = new thread

GOLD!

Overall? Since the inception of the Athlon64... the reason? THey used heatspreaders ... which is why Pentium4s were generally cooler than AthlonXPs ... AthlonXPs didnt have heatspreaders that the Pentium4s did.

but.. at the moment, id say amd's run cooler as their intel counterparts.. but thats mainly because of the lower clock frequency
But consider the AthlonXP ... which ran hotter than Northwoods ... and it had a clock disadvantage :)

Ya, but some people who get those in their PC's from like some company and dot know anything about computers won't know that a 478 prescott needs aftermarket to keep it under control.
