which should i get?

currently im working with a geforce mx 4
as my b-day and chirstmas are coming up, everything is ganna be on sale and im ganna have hopfully a nice stack to spend on pc parts. my current mobo doesnt support pci-e so ive been looking at pci video cards.

i mainly play half life 2 and counter strike source but wanna pick up doom 3 and quake 4

would either of these "live" with quake 4?
which should i get or should i get a new mobo 1st?

and maybe on the lowest setting cuz i have that game


and last but not least dont get a 5200 or 5500 cuz radeon was brtter then but i say get a 6800 like this one

the 5200 will not play doom 3 vary well.
What is your price range.

Neither of those cards would be able to "live" with Quake 4 unless you are happy with very low settings in the game. I would call that "surviving" and not "living".

A refurbished 9600XT 256MB card is less than $70 at www.newegg.com and they should do much better than either of those cards. Overclock it if you want for even more performance. You could find a used 9800PRO on eBay as well for ~$70-80 I would imagine.

upgrading from a mx440 to a fx5200 isnt worth it. i had to do that, because my mx440 died.. but there wasnt really a performance difference.
i would save the monney a bit longer, and get a better card ( from a mx 4 to a 6200 is actually a nice step tough. the 6200 is still a budget card )
