uh...SFR...no offense but what the hell was that?

Yes PCs will probably always have an edge, at least until consoles become upgradable (without buying a whole new unit). I still think the PS3 is superior to the Xbox, mainly because I don't have to keep a PSX or PS2 to play all the older games I like, plus that bluetooth wireless controller idea is good

My stupid politics

If you havent noticed.. I think Gaming machines in general get way to much hype... never found them enjoyable... I would rather go outside and play basketball or football with friends then sit at home and play games... Do you think the new XBOX will trump the new Playstation?

I think the PS3 will be more popular than the xbox, just because the only game xbox seems to have is halo and it's terrible.

opinion, if its so terrible why did it have more pre-sales then any other game

Dell, Compaq, Saturn...all huge and terrible (my opinion), but all very successful (fact).

Things don't have to be good to sell well. Look at Star Wars Ep. 1, 2 and Titanic, the largest grossing movie, they did well and they sucked. There's also 4W4K3's examples. It's all relative, when you compare Halo to the other garbage on the xbox it looks decent.

if i can steal what someone else said a minute ago, "opinion" lol. there are games that attract certain people, and games designed for other people.

still say PC. why?

on a PS3 or XBOX360, you get what you buy and thats it. there is no "upgrading" when new technologies come out, there is no overclocking or ramping up performance. you get the system and thats it. a year or 2 later you have to throw it away for the next and best. that to me is a waste of money. there is no possible chance for the system to play older/newer games or "classics". on a PC i can still play DOS games, today's games, and with a few upgrades tomorrow's gmaes. that's what i like, and thats why i never buy consoles.
You also cant do wut u can on a PC on a gaming console. U can change game settings ect. and even tho a PC mite have to be upgraded in a few years a new console will be released in 3 possibaly 4. Also upgrading is supposed to be a good thing, keeping up with technology and all for the latest and greatest in graphics and preformance. Thats how I think of it as

It's hard to vote which console in this poll considering PS3 has not come out yet. I have to play it in order to make a comment on it/vote against it:)
That is another thing to consider, its not out yet and the specs u listed arent 4shur yet

sigh.....alright guys, heres the thing. YES its true you can upgrade a computer for the future for the most part. BUT, lets get down to the nitty gritty. 1. compare the market of people who buy new comptuers when its time to upgrade vs. the people who buy specific parts when its time to upgrade. So you are talking about the minority of people who know how to upgrade properly (which i guess are a majority of people who play games on a pc). But that leads me to point 2. THere are VERY few games worth spending $50 on for a PC. 3. Yes, you could play any game on a PC with a 9800 or 6600, but you are not going to get graphics better than lets say a Halo 2 or a Metal gear solid 3. which leads into my 4th point....video game systems are meant to play video games. Developers optimize their gaming code because of this. Theres no visual settings in MGS, what the developers intended you to see...you're gonna see. 5. Online gaming is great yea, but have you ever had 3 of you're best buds come over and have a Halo deathmatch, or madden tournament? You can't do that with a computer unless you do a lan (major PIA). 6. Theres a beauty of just being able to pop a game into you're console and knowing it will work right away. WIth a computer, you must tweak settings, defrag your harddrive, etc. So yes, i feel they both have their places, but they are totally different gaming aspects for the most part.

Oh and, you can't compare the xbox 360's cpu vs. ps3 cell cpu.....as the cell i heard is a ridiculous piece of technology. Also, xbox 360 is shipping in a few month, ps3 has a solid year before it hits the states....should give them ample of time to pump up some specs before they start production. Ok...going back under my rock now...

umm...there are VERY FEW games i would spend over $50 on for consoles as well. with a PC, you get more than just a game. you usually get a game that you can explore outside of the actual "game" environemnt. what do i mean? online gameplay, mods, level editors, etc. its more than just a game you beat and then sell back to the store.

...if VERY FEW people know how to properly upgrade a computer, how do stores like BestBuy, CompUSA, Fry's Electronics, Circuit City, etc stay in business? there main product they sell (or at least the majority of their inventory) are/is computer PARTS. i see people from age 10-80yrs. old going in and buying videocards (mostly), RAM, CPU's, and new cases. it's not rocket science.

IF you think is a "PIA" to set-up a simple LAN connection with a few buddies and frag all night...then THIS IS WHY YOU ARE FOR CONSOLES. you can't set up a LAN...no wonder you vote for consoles. it's, again, not rocket science. i learned how with a few simple trial and error, no instruction, just did it till it worked. it seems like younger kids are more towards plugging in an XBOX or 2 and fragging, and the more mature players are the ones having real LAN parties.

...since when do you have to defrag your hard-drive to play a computer game? do you know hwat you are talkign about? i've never had to do this.

you tweak a game before you play it so it will run better on your computer. i dunno how many times i have played an XBOX or PS2 and had the game LAG in certain levels and scenes where graphics are intese. can't do anythign abotu that...cuz u cant tweak the game. on a PC, if you are lacking a good videocard, you lower visual effects and you can still paly the game. or you can set them really high and still enjoy the game. the games are made to work on MANY computers, unlike console games that work only with specific consoles...and even then some of them lag tremendously.

im not trying to dis you or anything, just your argument. some of the points seem weak, and the ones i didnt address were obviosuly strong lol.

Many console games are like that now too. And I'm pretty sure that the overwhelming majority of xbox360/ps3 games will have online multiplayer support and many will probably use a hard drive to allow players to get new maps mods etc.

but no guarantee. kinda like what Praetor said. for all you know the new consoles could have a built in vibrator. or they might not include ANY of the said features, kind of like how new games promise all these features but then never deliver.

not again that stupid a pc is upgradable reason. (no offense intended)

i mean, when the xbox came out, no pc could mach the grafics quality it showe on the screen. (well, maybe some real high end systems)
even now, if you want to run let say halo 2 on your pc with an emulator, you still need a real good system or it just wont run.
shure, a pc i a think everyone buys, but then it ued for other things than only gaming :) what im saying is, you dont need to upgrade a console, cuz the games they make for it are matched to te console (and, a console is a real nice gaming solution, cuz you can play splitscreen).

The PS3 is quite nice, but what has more versaatility than a PC? If I modify my XBox w/ a bigger hard drive I get kicked out of XBOX LIVE, but if I mod my computer, who cares

Well, a PC being upgradeable is a big upside along with it's ability to program so many keys for different functions, but you had to expect almost everyone to say PC after posting this on a site where everyone is extremely computer literate.

Halo 2 graphics are/were doable on a PC, i dont know how many people i know that spend thousands on computers, they aren't rare or anything lol.

as far as i know there aren't any good emulators for PS2/Xbox games, most have huge flaws.

you dont have to upgrade a console, thats a huge plus i will admit. but once the console has been out for 6 months (possibly less) there has already been a breakthrough in the PC worls nad new hardware is taking the spotlight.

you can play splitscreen on PC's, you can play with dual monitors as well..heck i think u cna play with 4+ monitors on certain setups.
