Hi All
simple question which is the better computer out of these two and why have you chosen that model in particular price is not a factor but put prices for reference thanks in advance to any help/comments

The first one is better value for money. You don't need 16GB of RAM. Both have pretty poor graphics cards though - these are not ideal gaming machines and they are not very well balanced systems at all.
 
ok cool the main uses for the computer are really face book some photo editing you tube but wanted something that was going to last as for balance there both of the shelf HP desktops im looking to spend around $2000 but on interest free is there any recommendations you would have as far as of the shelf desktops are concerned i would like something with good graphics to play games current game im playing is world of tanks online i know this is over kill for basic computer use but bigger is better yeah :)
 
If this machine is just for basic use, an i7 2600 and 16GB of RAM is just way overkill. You're honestly spending too much.

I'd recommend you get one of those machines (top preferably) and then also buy a new power supply (get a Corsair CX 500 or CX 600 or OCZ ZS 550 or Antec Neo 520) and then get a Radeon 6850 and take out the crappy card HP use and put the 6850 in there. Then you'll also be able to play games.

what about this as comparison i know its still overkill but how does it stack against the top two failing that i will look in to your option go the top machine with power/graphics upgrades thanks for your help it is much appreciated

Again, that system is overkill. 16GB of RAM is not needed, go for 8GB and again the graphics card is junk. The processor is newer though, but it is still overkill.

Go for an i3 or an i5 system with 4 or 8GB of RAM and then upgrade the power supply and graphics card yourself. You're wasting money by going with the i7. Do you really need 8 threads? 4 is enough.

sorry to be a pain there is also this to throw into the mix which sounds to be the better option over all 3 above keeping in mind this computer is around $1500 and end of year specials coming up
 
so for the price and for what i want its a good option is the power supply and graphics card acceptable in this computer or would i still need to upgrade ?

Guidance for choosing the parts is here at CF. So is any support a person might ever need. Like said, it's much better to build because each part is customized for your use/wants and more upgradeable in the future than a pre-built. Warrantys are better too.

And yes, the prices for the systems you listed are too much $ for what you get and a lot more $ than needed. 1k would be a comfortable budget for what you want without loosing performance, actually better performance, and that's 500-1,000 less than anything you listed before changing the power supply. How does that make your 'interest free' look?
Don't know what your interest free situation is and I'm not asking. If its an HP offer don't let them suck you in.
 
To the OP. before you go off and buy anything, do you know what software you will be using to do your photo editing, (adobe photoshop ect. ect.)? and to what sort of level, (lots of layers, and custom effects, or just simple corrections)? i agree for sure that the 2 you originaly posted that you were thinking of getting, are overpriced, and not worth getting. i do editing as well, and alot of times i am using 11 to 13 gigs of ram out of the 16 that i have. so depending on your answers to the 2 questions i asked, will make a significant difference to the parts you will want/need in this computer.
