Which video card is the better one?

I'm still having a hard time finding an answer to the following question, even though there's tons of threads GENERALLY dealing with it.

Which video card is better, the 256MB regular geforce 6800 or the 128MB geforce 6600gt? It would be PCIe for both. Consider neither to be unlocked or overclocked whatsoever, purely stock. Also, which one would be the better of the two as far as...which would hold out the longest in terms of future games.

Price is not an issue, just which is the better one. And no, I haven't seen a straight answer to this question in this forum yet.
 
Thanks spacedude. Anyone happen to know which would be more likely to hold out the longest in terms of new games? I realize they are both very similar and would go about the same time, but ie. might the 6800 last just a little longer, perhaps on certain games, due to 256MB of memory?
 
i would go with the 6800 if i had to choose one of the two... neither are amazing cards though... but the 6800 will play any game you need it to :)

The 68Vanilla is a slightly better performer (at higher resolutions), however the difference isn't nearly as big as many people seem to think.

He meant that:
Don't worry about which of these cards is more expensive or the best deal for the money, I just want to know which one is better. lol
