Which video card should I buy?

He wouldn't have to upgrade his PSU to SLI two gtx470's come on.

Again the heat is not an issue, turn the fan up. It vents to outside the case anyway.

He said there's only a 5 dollar difference....apparently he has a source to get them cheaper somewhere maybe? If there is only 5 bucks, it's a no brainer to go Nvidia.

edit- double post.

I am pretty sure he is buying a prebuilt PC by th way he listed the config and those are the only sites where you can have a difference of 5 bucks between the 5770 CF the GTX 470 and the HD 5850 you can check ibuypower and find that to be true, and another thing he chose an i7 960.
He surely isint building his own PC.

So the PSU he listed is 800W which will be a generic PSU which I am pretty sure is not capable enough for GTX 470 sli

I totally agree the GTX 470 performs good and better in some games in than the ATI HD 5850 but in practical gaming the difference between their performance is not worth the price difference nor the heat nor the power.
Moot point. The price difference the OP is working with is only $5

As you yourself said he has an 800w PSU so would it be more sensible for him to go with the ATI HD 5850 which he can crossfire in the future without upgrading the PSU rather than going for GTX 470 and then upgrading the PSU and then sli and deal with the heat
His 800W power supply will be plenty to run two GTX 470's in SLI if the motherboard he has is SLI capable. But I really can't see a need to SLI a high end card such as the GTX 470.

So did everyone think when cards like 8800 GTX or the GTX 295 came out
vvvv

Ahh, I see.

In that case, we need to know the exact brand and model of the PSU that comes with it. It they won't tell you, forget it!
