Which video card to use

Hi ,
I have Intel P4 2.8Ghz HyperThreading Tech.
In my Intel manual it is written that i can use 4X/8X AGP card.
What is 4X/8X and AGP card?

I want to know which is the best graphics card that suites my PC. And that should not give problems to my M-Board or Chipset.
