I like avast, it is free and offers many functions and levels of security.

There's been many threads like this and I don't think there's a definate answer! It's like nVidea or ATI, personal opinion.

AVAST and AVG are the two main ones, both free and offer great secruity!

I use AVG, it's really up to you to make your mind up though!

I use Avast but AVG is pretty good to. But do not use Norton like other people have said it is a resource hog. I also use Ad-aware SE Pro and windows firewall.

The Best Anti-Virus Software i have ever used is Mcafee SDAT

Procedure is

Dowload the Latest SDAT File From This Link
http://download.mcafee.com/us/updates/superDat.asp?real=0

Make One New folder in any drive
eg. C:
And rename that folder as a SDAT
after dowloading copy that sdat file and paste in that SDAT foler.

Open Command prompt

Then Give Commands
cd\ (press Enter Key)
cd sdat (press Enter Key)
sdat**** /e (press Enter Key) .........(to extract files in Sdat folder)
scan /all /adl /sub /clean (press Enter Key)

It will start scanning

The Best Anti-Virus Software i have ever used is Mcafee SDAT

anti-virus = avg, antivir (both free)
firewall = zonealarm pro
spyware = zonealarm

The zonealarm pro can be a bit too protective but works fine, the avg works well. But the best is antivir, its so simple and it finds things quicker then avg. I only keep avg just in case antivir fails.
