I am putting together a PC to run on a 24" monitor and was planning on buying an EVGA 8800GTS KO 512mb (g92) (678/1944)for $226.99 shipped after rebate but in my email I got a $20 coupon off of an EVGA 8800GT superclocked (650/1900) which will bring the price for the GT to $166.99 shipped after rebate. Is it worth saving $60 and jumping on the GT? I know the GT is the way to go with a 19" but how will it handle 1900x1200 on the 24" for gaming? It will be in a single pci-e x16 board so SLI isn't an option. I need "1" card that is up for the task. I'm not expecting to play crysis @ 1900x1200 on high or anything, but I want to make sure all games are atleast playable with average settings. So should I just stick to the 8800gts 512 or save $60 and take the chance that the GT can run those resolutions? Thanks all
(this system will be an e8400 @3.6, Gigabyte P35-DS3L, 4gb(2x2gb) g-skill ddr2 800, Samsung F1 750gb hd, Sonata iii/antec 500w earthwatts ps(included with case), and either gt/gts g92
on paper they look pretty equal but that doesn't always reflect real world results.
