Which X2 processor?

Really need some advice, I built this system awhile ago and am looking to upgrade my CPU. I have a Abit AN8 32x mb. Not sure what processor I have currently but its single core a year and a half old. I use it mostly for online gaming.

Would the X2 5600 be compatable or is there a better option for me?

its socket 939 and the 5600+ is am2 has 940 pins wont work i would look for x2 4800+ socket 939 or an FX-Series

I personally wouldnt bother investing in that system any more, none of the technology in it is upgradeable to anything really new... Your best bet is to bite the bullet and buy a new motherboard, ram, and processor. it might even work out to being cheaper then your current plan of just buying an outdated processor.
