Hi
I have a hp m1090n

was just running fine then allof a suddon a loud pop and white sparks shot out the back then all the power in the room went out

pluged it back in and same thing happened
someone have anyideas what it is thanks

Probably a failing capacitor or something. It's not uncommon for power supplies to go out, but it is a bit rare to see sparks...

Smoke, sparks and electronics don't play well together, you best course of action would be to take out your Power supply and replace it instead of trying ti plug power back in and causing more damage.

call up hp and tell them your sister is in the corner of the room crying and you want money for emotional distress. the worst thing hp ever did was sell me a computer with a warranty. i managed to get 16 keyboards, 13 mice (both wireless) 2 sets of 5.1 speakers, a new monitor and a whole bunch of crap from them by saying it was all broken.

They have customer logs... you'd think they'd catch on to you. I'd call you a douchebag, but I've thought about doing the same thing.

Don't they ask for the faulty gear back? They always do for me, when I put in a warranty claim.

only on ceartain things, they wanted the mobo back yet let me keep the rest of the crap, then again, my credit card changed after my warranty expired so maybe they want it back
