Who like's copy protection, product activation, and Serial Codes

It is probably the most targeted OS due to its popularity.

Ofcourse it is.. i mean,.. if you were an ***hole witch way too much spare time, enough knowledge to make a virus that can completely screw someones OS and you have Bad intentions... what would be your target?
Linux? i dont think you would be very smart then,.. since not so many people use linux, so it wouldnt get far.. no,.. ofcourse you put it on windows,. since almost every house that has a pc, runs windows.

thats why im quite onnoyed with people bithing about windows, and about what it can't do.. i mean... look what it actually CAN do,.. look on the massive variety of hardware wich it can keep running, and then considered its actually the main target of about all viruses etc released.
Maybe its just me who thinks that way, but I think window's is one hell of a OS. Linux may be good too.. but it only seems that much better because its not attacked that much :)

and no.. 90% of this post has nothing to do with 4W4K3's post :P

I think that I would be a happier person without serial keys, and having to activate this and that, but I see why businesses have to do it, so that everyone doesnt go and get it for free.

finally someone who reads this stupid forum thats on my side lol.

I like painless activation, no connection to internet, no updating this and that (f****ing Steam), just type in the key and press enter. Obviously there are flaws to this but if someone wants a game bad enough they will find ways around the protection. There are plenty of cracks, images, keygens,etc.. out there that let you bypass it so why go farther than putting a cd-key? all they are doing is delaying the inevitable.

Obviously no one likes it. It's hard enough when I want to install a game for me to find the CD case and locate and enter the CD Key, but it's something that almost every game/app has now.

Validation is really annoying, mainly beacuse they usually limit the number of times you can install a particular piece of software on the same machine.

Yeah, activiation is kind of lame. I have to say I don't mind steams activation system though, only because it doesn't jerk you around with a limited number installs/uses like other DRM systems.

has anyone ever found a good way to recover a lost cd key?
say for example i have game x and game x has the cd key written somewhere other than the cd it's self say i loose the other thing where the cd key is there fore i have a legal copy of the program but no cd key with which to use it.
