who's getting the conroe the day it comes out?

January to february for me, I try to wait for a core revision at least before buying a new CPU. My current P4 is a D0.
 
I heard it might be back order for 3 months...let's hope not!
Btw how can you buy a processor at 16 years old? It's the age you normaly start to work. :)
 
Well skim off several thousand units for Dell, they will not have a shortage but retail channels like newegg and the like probably will.
 
I think I'm gonna wait for Vista to come out then buy the 6600...or whatever drops to it's price :D around 300$

Where are you buying it from? The retail on that is only $316.

I think that once they come out, retailers are going to charge alot more the their worth, to see what the demand is for them, then in a few months the prices will be down to retail values. The same happened with AM2 on newegg, except it wasnt in high demand the the prices went down quickly.
 
Well if you want to spend $100-$200 more to get it right away, go ahead. But you may want to consider getting one of the AMD X2 series since it will be almost 50% cheaper then they currently are.
 
im gettin the 6600. i suggest waiting a week or two for intel to work out all the bugs. i think at that time it might be cheaper than msrp

You mean it may be the same price as the MSRP :rolleyes:

Since right now there charging up to a few hundred dollars more, since they know theres a high demand.

After reading a few reviews on the Core 2 Duo processors I'm starting to seriously think about getting one once I upgrade after Vista has been released.

I am not getting it the day it comes out, I could, thanks to Ebay...
But I do plan on building a system with Conroe around Christmas, getting a job in August, after California and my cabin.

I was jw if anybody else was getting one...
