Why 64-bit?

great let us know how it goes...did you ever look for a Benchmarking alternative for Linux that we were talking about?

It seems to of worked... it's called HardInfo... just sudo apt-get install hardinfo and it should work great. Here's what I got on Ubuntu32 8.10... we'll see how it compares to Ubuntu64 8.10.

Does linux 32 bit have the same thing as windows 32 bit with not recognizing more then 3-3.5 gb ram?

Not much experience with linux but I would assume that 64 bit version would run newer 64 bit applications alot better.

Yeah, if it's truly 32-bit at least. I've never used over 2GB of RAM with Ubuntu so I don't know from personal experience.

I'm running 64-bit Ubuntu now... it seems to run basically the same, but I think some things are faster than they used to be. :) Here's the benchmarks... not as good as I had hoped... some aren't as good as with 32-bit Ubuntu. :P
