Why are satelite connections disrutped by BAd Weather

The water molecules resonate at frequencies of a couple of GHz, thus dissipating some of the signal’s energy. During a heavy rain or snowing there are a lot of water molecules between the satellite and the receiving antenna and sometimes the received signal’s strength could get lower than a minimum needed for reception.

I am guessing your looking at getting satalite,
I have satalite and have never(I'm serius) lost signal do to the weather, and I have had it a good 4-6 months, but different companies lose and gain signal easier. I prefer it over cable.

Only 6 months? You will experience disruptions sometimes in the future, unless you're living in the middle of a desert.
But those disruptions are very rare (max. 1 per year) and they are usually short (a couple of minutes).

My satelite atleast getas disrupted 10 times i think u are refereing to a different kind of dish. My signal Is wide spread not concentrated.

also, you should becareful of a rare asteroid knocking the satellite out of orbit. very rare though
You don't have to wait for an asteroid, even a powerful solar flare can do the job... :P

And that same asteroid knocking into your house, crushing your satelite, and at the end of its fall, destroying your tv. Frequency connection will probably be lost at such a moment :D

Many disruptions on bad weather could be caused by weak signal reception. So check the following:
- is the antenna perfectly aligned with the satellite?
- is the dish size adequate for your geographical position?
- is the lnb in the dish's focal point?
- are there some obstacles in the front of the antenna?

Well We live right under a moutain so.......

I have a satellite for TV, and I *may* lose the signal for 5-10 minutes during a particularly heavy rain storm. Usually it is excellent.

I have a satellite dish for TV too, and the signal only gets disrupted when a neighbor from an upper floor throw his garbage out of his window directly into my dish...
F***ing neighbors...

LMFAO, thoughtful neighbours. throw your garbage on his doorstep, or better yet, directly on his TV
Nah, just shooting him down would be less messy... :D

I wouldn't mind having a satellite connection but I guess I'd be a bit screwed because of all the bad weather in the UK :(
