Why are SSDs so Expensive?

eround 300$$

Well 2 of the top SSD that I have seen so far are these. A lot of people argue which one is better. Personally most the Intel arguments I have heard sounded more fan boy but I don't think you can lose with either one of them.

Vertex 2
60GB

Vertex
120GB ($300 after rebate)

Intel X25-m
80GB (newest version)

80GB (comes with 2.5 to 3.5 bracket)

Sadly their 160Gb version of the X25-m is still $400+.
