Why Are We Pimping Out Our Computers?

Then you get people like me, who don't give a damn about the looks of the computer. Neon lights would be on the bottom of my list of things to buy.

right with ya on that one, can't stand modding of cases with things like neons.

As soon as the word neon is mentioned i just think of some chav in his vauxhall nova with some ridiculously oversized spoiler and shite music blaring out!

yea... but then you are talking about the optically making a car faster XD they look riddiculus indeed =]
I like a bit of light on it, but it shouldnt overdo it..I mean, i do like a bit the funky stuff on a case.. but it shouldnt look like a flipper-machine tough :)

don't get me wrong, if someone else wants to do it then fair enough, i have nothing against them, its their perogative. Just wouldnt do it myself

Hence why i have a completely unmodded antec P180.....no window, no lights, no show :)

Agreed... I think the same thing about cars. I don't care if the outside appearance makes people think it's a POS... it's what's under the hood and how it performs that really matters.

I also think it shows your personality.

You mod: You may like flashy things or something different that the normal old black dell cases (No offense:D ) a liberal.:P

You dont mod: You might be conservative person :P that likes things the easy and simple way. Maybe doesnt like flashy stuff.

Just like what you wear and what kind of CAR you drive.

And I would really like to see Archangel's PC.

There's pictures of it around.

I don't mod. I wouldn't say I'm conservative. Would you say someone who doesn't mod their car is conservative as well? Do I like things simple? Yes but that's more of a 'if it's functional it's good' mentality on my part. Cathodes, LED fans and what not don't make it work any better so I don't feel they are needed.

:o well... i just took all day today to get the wires of my pc a bit in place :)
Made some more pic's ( Uploading them to photobucket atm... and im really, really happy my pc still booted after mission:spaghetti XD )

its like everything you get, you want it too look the best and be the best-

Yeah,

Alot of people buy chepo cases and Mod them to death like sticking see through windows on the side and re-spraying them.
And some look quite good.

Do you guys think modding an Off the shelf Pc and putting in a see through window is stupid?

I think they look ok?

I like modding my case just because it is something constructive I can do, but I am just wondering why people do it. I think it is just something they take pride in and want it to look cool and get recognition.

I have made my computer look nice--cheaply. Most of what I have done is add:
120mm LED ($14)
2x UV IDE cables ($10)
Some cables w/ ($8) UV Reactant sleeving
UV lights ($7)

So, that's all I have done, other than wm.

for me, i love lights. more lights the better, until u run out of room and stuff. but then i dont overkill because, too much money, i dont look at the side of my case much, plus, i dont want it to use so much power and keep my self up at night. but each of my computers just has to have a light mod of some sort on it. ahah i even have a black light in my room. XD

my thoughts why people pimp out there PC is because when friends comeover they see it and go "WWOOO!!" If it wasn't decorated, it would just be an everyday PC.
