Why can't I download anything?

I try to download Mozilla Firefox, Avast Anti-virus, and AIM but it doesn't let me. It shows thats its downloading but it dissappears when it's done and nothing else pops up. I even try to save it on my desktop but still nothing. Is it Internet explore that is blocking it or is it Vista thats not letting me do anything. Im getting frustrated trying to figure this out. I don't have no problem with my laptop that has XP. PLEASE HELP!

i would try to run internet explorer as administrator. Right click internet explorer and hit run as administrator. also try to delete all your temp internet cookies and files. Tools internet options, browsing historey, delete, delete cookies and files. see if any of thoughs work
