My opteron 146 (2ghz stock) can't get past 2.8ghz on 1.55V. Is this normal? I was hoping for 3ghz or something. Anything I can do that I am unaware of?
PS: I play only with the multiplier, fsb, cpu voltage, memory divider, and the 5x/4x/3x one:)

What's your stepping on that Opty? Most new ones top out at ~2.8GHz so really that's not a bad overclock. If it was one of the older batches 3GHz might have been a more realistic goal. You have a pretty nice rig.

Like 4W4K3 said 2.8 is about tops with the new batches.

Every now and then I run across a site where someone claims to have hit 2.8 Ghz or higher with the new AMD 64 939 chips. While some do hit 2.8 Ghz and above, I think that most of the claims that are being made are baloney and few if any of them would not pass Prime95 for more than a few minutes. If you can hit a stable 2.7- 2.8 Ghz with an Opteron 146, then you have an exceptional chip so be happy with that.
