Why Do Computers Give So Much Heat?

... to get on to topic... pc-tech it is a forum... kinda the point to post... but the processor converts energy into processing power. so it is putting power through small wires and stuff so it generates heat. just like a heater does but that is with a lot more power...

You have everything running, hard drive spinning, fans on, cpu running, power source on, and all of that has friction somewhere in it. So when all of that friction builds up, then there is heat. Its just like rubbing two sticks together, the longer you rub them, the more heat you get.
 
It gets hot because the components give off heat (obviously). Any type of electrical device generates heat at some degree.

You have everything running, hard drive spinning, fans on, cpu running, power source on, and all of that has friction somewhere in it. So when all of that friction builds up, then there is heat. Its just like rubbing two sticks together, the longer you rub them, the more heat you get.
Thats true for the mechanical devices such as fans, hard drives, etc.

More specificly heat is caused by electricity passing through something with resistance. More electricity and resistance = more heat.
