Why do I keep constantly getting viruses / adware / spyware?

Every few weeks I get a new Trojan virus and / or adware / spyware program. I am wondering why. I do a lot of downloading, but the stuff I download is not something that usually contains viruses. THe only software I download is software from trusted sites such as cnet.com for the most part.

The other things I download are movies and games. Mainly iSO files. All the movies and games are compressed using WinRAR. I do download things off of LineWire but I only download movies and audio files off of LimeWire.

So basically I download movies, music and some full retail version games.

Those files are not files that generally contain viruses from what I was told. So where else can they be coming from?

IS there a way to prevent them from coming in so often? I have adware SE personal edition and AVG anti-virus and I do a full system scan weekly.

Any executeable file could pose a serious enough threat to completly destroy the software side of a computer. I know that sounds parnoid but downloading off the net carries these risks. You can get all the AV software in the world but something is bound to sneak by. You can subscribe to reliable d/l sites with nominal fee's. Otherwise d/l at yoru own risk.

My advice would be to run your AV and spyware software numerous times a day.

Rapidshare is not a reliable one. Most legitimate sites dont host off of rapidshare. Besides your anti-tools, do you have a good firewall? a good browser? good online surfing habits?
