i'm on a router, my options for IE are dial when connection not present, as opposed to always dial default connection. Anyway, lately, i get a popup from my windows saying to connect to the internet, however, i'm already on line, using msn, etc, surfing a page or two, just certain pages.. do u think this is a router malfunction or my firewall in the router alerting me to something trying to connect? pls i need help with this.

Go back into the dial up internet options in IE. From there, select "Never Dial a connection"

As you are on broadband, so you don't need a dial up connection present at all.

ok wow, i tried that, and the pop up to connect to internet, no longer shows up.... but is there not something strange that it asked to connect, whenever i went to lavasoft.com to dl adaware? or even trendmicro's internet security? thanks for the help tho :) pls offer more insight if u have any. ty

I'm sorry, I didn't quite understand that. Can you try and rephrase it as best you can? I know English is probably not your primary language, so if you can try to clear that up a little, it will help.

lol sorry. I did what u said. and it worked, i no longer get the 'connect to internet via user name and password messge' my further question was, why would it ask to connect when going to certain sites eg) google search of adaware, and when i clicked on download the program, then the popup to connect to the internet came up. that's what made me think i might have had a trojan.. because most websites i goto, do not require that from me. at any rate, ur suggestion worked. so thank you.

did that make more sense ?

Is your second question pertaining to before or after you got it solved? So was it simply to ask us why it was doing that? Or are you trying to say that it is still happening whenever you download?

If you were asking just to know, then I really have no clue. Maybe because it isn't detecting a dial up tone. I remember having that happen constantly when I had dial up too; so who knows.

k cool, ya i was just wondering what would have caused that, seemed fishy that it would only happen on ad removal and antivirus sites, also i tried sending in a few registration requests to forums, and one free anti virus, and it just took forever to load for the anti virus, and the request for registration on another computer forum i tried b4 this one i'm still waiting.... but tyvm, the problem is solved..
