Why does it keep asking me to install an update?

I have an HDI TV player installed on my desktop which keeps asking me to install an update everytime I launch it. When I install it the computer then tells me that the updated version is already installed and then asks me if I want to unistall the first version. Clearly this is unnessary and very annoying.

How do I go about getting rid of this problem?
