Why does my computer think that I live in the USA?

I tried to access a video from the BBC website. It said that i cannot access the video because I live outside the UK. But I live IN the UK? Why is it saying this message?

I don't see where the problem is...
They have blocked access to people you live in UK,and you are in UK,so you can't access the video...

David, you say that in order to see the video you have to be outside the UK, however you are in the UK.

Why do you think the website thinks you're in the USA?

Not that I know of. This computer is using an internet connection through a network though.
Is the network for a business? It could be connected through a US sister company for some reason. I live In San Jose, California (and work).. yet my work shows I am in Denver, Colorado. :)

Head on over to www.dnsstuff.com and type your IP addy into the IP Information field. Click "Lookup" and this will tell you who your IP address is registered with and where the range is located. If you don't know your IP address, it'll be at the top of the DNS Stuff page and type that number into the IP Information field on DNS Stuff. If it says that it's located somewhere other than the UK, then I'd contact your ISP and tell them about the situation.

The other problem could be that the BBC website your trying to download the video from doesn't have the range of your IP address listed as one in the UK. This could be the case if your ISP has assigned a new range to the residential network. If this is the case, then maybe you want to send the webmaster or some other technical contact an email describing the situation.
