Why does response time matter?

OK, I know the faster the better, but how fast is good and how fast is great? What happens if you have 2ms. What happens if you have 8ms? And why is the access time only showed on LCD and not CRT? And while we're on the subject, why is dot pitch only shown on CRT and not LCD? When I say not shown I mean like on the box or even in the manual.

Anything above 12ms isn't recommended for gaming or watching movies, as the frames will become "fuzzy" because the LCD display can't keep up.

If you have to slow of a repsonce time while playing games(or movies even if you have one of tose 32ms monitors, ewww) it will "ghost" kind of merging the newest image on the one righ ebfore it together, its kind of hard to explain.

Forgaming iw ould reccomend anything under 8ms.

They arn't listed on CRT monitors ebcuase they dont exactly have them the same why LCD's do, they are made and peratored differntly. You dont have to worry about it on a CRT.

I have a Dell 20.1'' widescreen lcd and it has a 16 ms response time and i have no ghosting on games or movies.

So I don't ahve to worry about Access time?

So since I have a CRT, I shouldn't have to worry about the timing, right?
