I have the samsung 215TW, its great... most of the time, (i get this high pitched hum in the top left, its annoying...)

anyways, it has S-vid, RCA (composite) and component inputs.

how come when i hook composite up to it, it actually looks worse than the same image on my 14" Toshiba CRT?

(actually, i ran some games on an emulator, and compared the emulated image right next to one from an external source using PIP, and the difference was unfortunate.)

i also tried using the components one time, with a HD cable box, it looked alright, but nothing amazing, and not nearly as good as the plasma

im posting in a computer forum, because i figured some techies here may give me a clearer answer than someone in a video forums.

Just the same with any other LCD. If you don't run it at it's native resolution(max res) then it's going to look bad. It's as simple as that.

ohhhhh, so basically, unless whatever im trying to watch isn't 1680x1050, it wont look good?

thats bogus

how does that even work? if i plug my gamecube in, and it displays at 480i, does that mean its being stretch to fit my 1680x1050 monitor? that would make sense... i guess
