Why Dual DVI?

None of my monitors have DVI input, so is there some reason so many cards have Dual DVI output?

Is it for performance?

if a video card only has DVI outputs, then it will usually come with appropriate adapters so that you can plug in a D-sub monitor, so your monitor should be compatible with any video card... (check to make sure that the card your looking at has these adapters)
and as for having dual DVI, thats just for those people who want to plug in two monitors. that can be very usefull... i've used it before to study for exams - i had one document open on one screen and some webpage or another document open on the other screen.
but i think you can use the two screens for games and all sorts of things.
I dont think its for performance, but just the flexability of having the option to plug in two screens.

There are two of them to run two moniters at once.

Why DVI? Becuase alot of NEW moniters have them, mostly LCD flat screenss, which are becoming mmore and more popular.

yeah, they put two DVI outputs on a card so that you can use two monitors as once.

DVI is digital, and D-sub is analogue... D-sub is being phased out slowly, because the new DVI simply gives better image quality. CRT monitors are analogue displays, so i dont think they're gonna have DVI, but the LCDs are digital displays - like you have noticed, they are being made with DVI inputs to take advantage of the new digital interface.
LCD monitors were, and some still are, being made with D-sub inputs for compatability with video cards that dont have DVI, but i think that you'll find that most of the monitors designed for either games or Video/image editing (mainly the larger screens for higer performance) will have DVi input.

yep, so that you can use DVI if your video card has it, or D-sub if it doesn't.
when i said that D-sub might be phased out slowly, i meant very slowly... so theres going to be a bit of a transition period where both are widely used - this is that period.
So if you're going to buy a new video card to use with a D-sub monitor then get any card you want, as long as it comes bundled with "DVI to D-sub" adapters.
