Why have ram prices sky-rocketed?

It's like they're gasoline or something of the sort. When I was looking at corsair value select 184 pin about a month ago it was just about $80 for a gig, and now it's poking at $100.
 
Well ive noticed DDR is higher than DDR2 now but they arent just going up through the roof. Could ya give me a link to this RAM you are talking about?
 
Hmm, I haven't noticed RAM prices going up. But then again I haven't been looking at value ram lately. Could just be a didn't set of RAM, check the serial numbers if you can, the latencies, everything because even a small difference in performance can make a big difference in price.
 
Hmm you are right tho, My corsair valueRAM was about $85 when I got it last summer, now DDR2 value RAM is around that. Oh well, I've also seen the higher-end RAM dropping slightly in price and thats what I use.
