Why is CMD the first thing i see ? 2012 R2 Server on V-Box

I installed a virtual box machine for a 2012 R2 server. When i start it up it brings up the CMD prompt automatically. Why cant i see my desktop right away ?

Is this a server core installation? If so, that's why

Yep, watch out when installing that you don't choose the Core edition. Literally just a CMD, no GUI.

If you want a GUI, you need to install Server 2012 (Server With a GUI)
