After that scan is done, download and install Microsoft Anti-spyware, update it and run a full scan (not a quick scan). Let it fix what it finds, reboot and scan again. See if that helps with your problems. Let us know (it will take a while).

Wow that did take ages! It found 17 'threats', I just told it to do the 'recommended' thing so it's deleted most of them, quarantined a few and ignored a few. I still cannot upload photos or create a new folder on the desktop.
